Project Description

Foodstuffs have recently completed the development of a New World Supermarket in Feilding, Manawatu. Rooflogic worked with the architect and the main contractor to provide a roofing solution that achieved a range of project objectives:

  • A true “warm roof” design that provided a high level of thermal performance that would ensure a comfortable interior environment could be achieved year round.

  • A roof system that enabled the metal top skin to be installed in a single sheet. The contractor was concerned with the potential weather-tightness issues associated with an insulated panel roof system which would have required several panel lap joints due to the length of the roof.

  • A roof system that enabled the building contractor to achieve effective close-in as soon as practicable to assist in meeting the programme objectives of the build.

  • A roof system that could integrate with a proprietary twin-skin skylight solution.

The Rooflogic Fibertherm MSR system was specified and installed on the project.
The Fibertherm MSR system provides the perfect solution for new supermarket

  • The specified Fibertherm system achieved a calculated R-value of R3.15. Rooflogic provided a full set of thermal and hygrothermal calculations for the project to demonstrate thermal performance and the mitigation of condensation risk.

  • The RL Liner Deck was the first part of the roof assembly to be installed. The 3000m2 main roof was installed within 1 week and provided the main contractor with the weather protection required to allow internal fit-out works to commence.

  • The liner deck was installed with a pre-coloured “Off White” finish to provide a clean, light interior finish.

  • The longest sheet lengths required for the roof installation were 32.8 metres. The locally manufactured top skin could be processed, delivered to site and installed as a single run eliminating the need for sheet overlaps or roof steps.

Rooflogic remained involved in the project throughout design and construction,
even detailing the internal gutters and deck areas with Rooflogic’s Fibertite membrane to ensure all critical junctions and details were well resolved.

The Rooflogic Fibertherm system provided an extremely economical, efficient warm roof solution whilst the skylight design and the coloured face of the liner deck provided the perfect internal aesthetic.
