S&T Architects were appointed by the Ministry of Education to lead the reconstruction of Wainuiomata High School. With a budget of over $60 million, the school built 33 new and renovated teaching areas to fit the current students and fix old buildings with weathertightness issues. The former principal said the Ministry first talked to the school in 2010 about these problems, but progress was slow because of earthquakes in Christchurch and Kaikōura. Work started in 2018 and is still on-going, expected to finish by mid-2024.

RoofLogic offered solutions for both the façade and roofs of the project, incorporating Ultratherm MSR roofing and Ultratherm MSR facade systems. By using PIR board insulation, the classrooms are well-insulated to combat the cold temperatures prevalent in the valley.

These enhancements, both completed and planned, show a big investment in Wainuiomata High School, securing its future for years to come.
