WelTec School of Construction

Related Systems: Ultratherm MSR
Architect: Designgroup Stapleton Elliott
Project Date: December 2013
Location: Wellington

WelTec School of Construction is a purpose built trade training facility.  The building incorporates class based learning spaces, large open plan training zones and staff offices. The specified roof system needed to provide high levels of thermal performance and increased durability due to the buildings proximity to Wellington coast.

RoofLogic specified the Ultratherm MSR system for the main office and class room area.  The RL TopDeck T metal top skin was specified in PCC Magnaflow to meet the durability requirements for the exposure zone of the building. The RL LinerDeck was left exposed internally and pre-coloured to “Off-White” to improve the internal aesthetic.

System Details

The RoofLogic system included:

  • RL Liner Deck (coloured “Off White”)
  • RL Vapour Control Layer
  • RL PIR Board (80mm)
  • RL TopDeck T

This roof was installed in 2013 and continues to perform in respect to thermal efficiency, condensation management and corrosion resistance.

RoofLogic recently carried out a 5 year destructive assessment on the roof assembly. The evidence from this assessment clearly supports the principles and the science behind every RoofLogic solution.
