Two Christchurch secondary schools, Shirley Boys College and Avonside Girls College were constructed on a combined campus in one of the largest new secondary school construction projects in New Zealand.
The project involved the installation of 17,000m2 of Rooflogic roof systems.
The schools required a high performance, low maintenance roof solution that would provide excellent levels of thermal performance for the life of the system, manage condensation risk and provide the highest levels of weather-tightness.
Rooflogic specified their Ultratherm MSR system incorporating 80mm PIR Board. The system incorporated:
RL Liner Deck (coloured “Off White.”)
RL Vapour Control Layer.
RL PIR Board (80mm.)
RL Topdek T.
Excellent thermal performance.
Vapour control layer mitigates condensation risk.
System allowed for rapid close-in to assist a compressed construction timetable
Complex detailing could be accommodated with this built up roof assembly in a way that could not be achieved with composite panel systems.
Sheet lengths of 34 metres could be supplied to site in a single length with no sheet laps or roof steps.
Rooflogic system could accommodate multiple skylight installations across the site with more than 100 skylights required.
